I often get asked this question by many of my clients. There is a misconception that fan count indicates that a business is successful. While Facebook may seem like a popularity contest, engagement is the key to recognizing a successful Facebook fan page. Do you ever notice a business page may have a high fan count, but you scroll down to see what type of engagement they have with their fans on their posts and what do you see? Nothing. No likes. No comments. No sharing. Why? Maybe their content is not valuable enough to its fans. Maybe they purchased fans, just to have a high fan count,just to give the impression to business owners that they are successful Facebook gurus. Engagement is key!
